Larox Pumps for Lead and Zinc Analyzing

A Western U.S. Mine producing Lead and Zinc has undergone a major expansion on their Rougher/Scavenger Analyzing and Column Control Processing System. They have chosen Larox Flowsys and the LPP-T as the pump of choice. The total project was worth $125 K.

Process parameters are Lead and Zinc, 30% solids with a specific gravity of 1.4. Two LPP-D25 peristaltic pumps are installed to feed Outotec, type 5SL Courier Analyzers.  These pumps run at a fixed speed and continuously feed the Lead and Zinc to the Outotec Analyzers at 1.8 m3/h. Four LPP-T65 units are also installed at this site to pump the Lead/Zinc Scavenger/Rougher Tails solids to a cutter system for the LPP-D25 pumps to feed the Outotec Slurry Analyzing system.

The LPP-T65 pumps run by a VFD system and the flow fluctuates between 1 - 15 m3/h to maintain the cutter systems set level so the LPP-D pumps can monitor the specific plant parameters through the Outotec 5SL Analyzers.

The Larox pump was chosen over the competition due to its numerous benefits such as
  • Continuous operation without overheating
  • Increased hose life
  • Low glycerin needs
  • Lower energy costs
  • Decreased maintenance costs

This customer has also purchased Larox PVE control valves for column control for the scavenger units. The valves control the level of the columns to retain a high recovery yield of the product.
