LPP-T40 - A Success in Lead
Mt Garnet zinc concentrator in Queensland Australia installed an LPP-T40 hose pump to deliver lead slurry to a filter feed tank serving a vertical filter press in the second phase of their expansion. The LPP-T pump allows an in-line installation where suction lines can be significantly shorter. This prevents settling of the heavy lead slurry in the pipeline.

The new LPP-T operates as a thickener underflow pump. A wide control range is required as the slurry has a typical specific gravity of 2 - 3 but can at times be as high as 5 - 6. The underflow flow rate is 2.2 m3/h. Output is regulated by the inverter controlled LPP-T ensuring optimal thickener operation.
Previously, one of the main problems in the process was the blocking of the suction pipeline at low flow-rates as well as tripping of the inverter due to high friction in low speed control situations. The new LPP-T allows in-line installation and its unique, low friction operating principles at low rpm prevent the VS pump motor from tripping.
This adds to improved reliability and offers maximum control of the thickener underflow delivering a stable density output.
