Larox Valves in Green Liquor Service

Pinch valves are ideal for the green liquor service as the elastic sleeve ensures that the valve does not jam or clog even if it has been closed for a longer period. The core of a pinch valve is the sleeve which is the only part in contact with the process medium. Due to this the selection of sleeve material is the most essential to ensure trouble-free operation.

Larox pinch valves have numerous benefits over metal valves:

  • Larox valves are 100% tight when closed
  • 100% full bore in open position
  • High wear resistance
  • Low cost spare parts
  • Easy maintenance
  • Long service life

Larox EPDM/B Sleeve

The Larox green liquor sleeve is EPDM based special vulcanised material developed exclusively for Larox valves used in green liquor applications. This material combination has better chemical resistance than the material usually used by other pinch valve manufactures. The special reinforcements and rubber layers between the cords improve the chemical resistance of the Larox green liquor sleeve.

A Larox valve with green liquor sleeve can also be equipped with Larox SensoMate System. The early detection sleeve, Larox SensoMate, makes it possible that the sleeve change can be scheduled and the worn sleeve replaced before any process downtime is experienced.

PVE/S 300 Replaced Metal Valve

A leading Finnish pulp producer replaced metal valves with two Larox PVE/S 300 valves in green liquor service. The valves are operating as suction side pump isolation valves after a dissolver tank and at the temperature of 95ºC. The ball valves previously used in this duty caused many problems in the process. The valves were jamming and freezing and therefore they had to be washed many times a year.

Since the installation in December 2002, the Larox valves have been operating successfully and without any problems or disturbances in the process. The customer is very satisfied with the Larox solution and is now proceeding to replace all existing valves with Larox valves in this application.
